Art is one of the few areas in life that doesn’t have to be limited by concept, materials or even purpose. I can’t not create art.

I’ve been a painter for most of my life, but in more recent years I’ve been drawn to painting and writing on found and reclaimed objects. I love the idea of taking something with a history and layering it with a new purpose and message. A wooden box becomes a gateway into a poem memory. A vessel contains a history. There are no limits that can sometimes come from simple canvas or a flat surface. This requires a deeper dive and a more open audience.
Where do you find inspiration? The city where I live and the places I visit. I spend so much time walking and taking photos of little details a long the way. I also carry a notebook where I write and sketch ideas. My best ideas come unexpectedly. I’ve learned to be completely open and willing to experiment. To not say no to something new and unfamiliar. The more challenging, the better. I also spend a lot of time looking back and in for emotions tied to my own life.
