Art isn’t what I do, it’s who I am. I seek to portray emotion by way of what is around me, weather, abandoned places, each a self portrait.

I consider myself to be a Contemporary Realist. I like to also push the boundaries of scale in my work, and when I do I get a real different satisfaction in the finished work. It challenges me to make work that, while bordering on surreal, has the viewer “believing” it when they stop in front of it. The sort of art I love to create is like that, and it is charged with emotion. I believe my work transcends the nouns that can be used to describe it into a more psychological response.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere. From wide open desert to deserted streets lined with old abandoned factories. Music fills me up and and opens my mind to ideas. Food presented beautifully inspires me. Perhaps what inspires me most is the lonesome of those deserted things and music in minor keys. I find beauty in there that needs to be expressed.
What would you do with $25,000?There are certainly many very quick ways to use an infusion of money like that. Like a new roof, helping my mom…. But artistically, I would love to move forward in this quest to expand my work into even larger pieces and mount a show either at one of my galleries or who knows, perhaps a museum! I think that would be incredible.
