What is your favorite type of art to create?

My favorite creative output are balanced rock-wire-origami sculptures - usually featuring custom folded origami crows. Supplementary works include Origami double helix mobiles. Since 2008, I have produced backlit negative space portraits: pumpkin portraits. Primarily portraits of friends & family, but also horror themed. My future plan is to use negative space technique in burned wood sgrafitto portraits.

Where do you find inspiration?

My folding obsession was born from dad's long fight with Alzheimer's: Origami flowers for dad, then for memory center residents and ICU patients. Flowers begat dragons, begat dragonflies, begat crows. I incorporated double helix mobiles via fishing skills, then wire sculptures via breaking beach rocks. I am ultimately inspired by observing nature's pariahs, integrating photos into new folds, then Journaling nightly meditations.

What would you do with $25,000?

My sales-to-supplies ratio is balanced, but pleasantly slim. Most of my origami paper is now dyed coffee filters. Rocks from the beach. Wire from scrapped springs. A small pittance for adhesives & pliers. My main need is skill updates: learning and solder & weld, 35mm digital photography retraining. Other than that, my work is mostly charity-based: surplus gets passed onto patients and patient families.
