Oil paintings. My main skill and passion is working with oil paint, a medium that offers me a vast range of colors. Unlike today’s world, where everything is defined by speed and mass production, oil paint—due to its chemical nature and slow process—gives me the time to slow down, be patient, and reflect. For me, oil paint is not just a medium but a philosophy of seeing life. It interrupts the noise of the world and creates a space for deeper and longer observation.
Where do you find inspiration?Drawing from my lived experience as an Iranian woman who spent 36 years of her life in Iran, my perspective on human beings, identity, and freedom has been deeply shaped. My work explores what connects us beyond geographical and cultural boundaries. In my practice, art becomes a space for connection, mutual understanding, and the redefinition of shared human bonds.
What would you do with $25,000?I had my own art studio in Iran, but here I haven’t been able to have my own artistic space. Since moving to Canada, I’ve been working as a cook in a restaurant to earn a living. With that income, I rent a studio room for myself and work on my one-dimensional series—an idea I’ve been developing in my mind for a long time.
