Something that tells a story. I work with several mediums, but acrylic on canvas is what I learned with the most in school. As a kid I had lots of nightmares growing up, and painting the most memorable parts were ways of processing and releasing the imagery I’d experience while asleep. My work is a mix of surrealism, street art, and hints of impressionism. Anime, video games, and movies were big influences on my style as well.
Where do you find inspiration?From my dreams, nature, and people. From my Puerto Rican family & culture. From oddly synchronized coincidences - to struggles in life. I find inspiration when I engage with my community. As I share my thoughts and listen to others, my best work materializes when a collective sense of purpose exists between me and the audience around me. For this contest, I’ll be using sticky note prompts from the general public to create a painting that reflects the collective subconcious.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d pay off several months of rent with half. The other half would go to various creative supplies to advance my skills and produce more work with a solid foundation of resources.
