Nick Adinolfi

Art is the only phenomenon in the modern world that I truly felt welcomed me in and I’ve never questioned my belonging. I owe my life to it.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

The first art form that I gravitated toward on my own accord was writing prose. To this day, I still attribute that as the only form in which I am completely of my own power in creation, which is inherent to the general lack of personal autonomy in my upbringing. However, I find the most outward personal artistic fulfillment through theatre. Additionally, the world between these two forms being film (which I found interesting the middle of my youth journey) comes most second nature to me.

Where do you find inspiration?

I feel that I find the most inspiration for whatever I craft or create through the healing of personal tragedy. I attribute the vast majority of my artistic expression to my desire to heal my demons through art, as it is much safer and more personally gratifying that allowing myself to fall victim to self-destruction. As much as I’d like to think that I’m primarily marching to the beat of my own drum, my journey through theatre constantly reminds me of how much other artistic humans inspire me.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would most definitely consider putting the money towards producing my radically-modern vision of Jesus Christ Superstar with completely autonomy (without having to associate or prove myself to an existing theatre company) OR really gritting my teeth and producing my first feature film (an indie drama about a high-school theatre love-story based on William Shakespeare’s As You Like It) in very guerrilla style. These are the few projects in my life where I’ve said to myself “I NEED to do this.”
