Nora Lynn Cunningham-Crangle

I find inspiration when intense emotions hit. Creating lets me release them into something visible that helps me make sense of what I feel.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

My favorite type of art to create is hands-on, physical, multimedia work, especially 3D pieces like ceramics and woodworking. I also love drawing and painting, but I’m most drawn to art I can build, shape, and physically interact with. I’ve been exploring more with photography too, which has been a new way for me to see and capture the world.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find inspiration in my emotions and lived experiences, especially the moments that stick with me- things that surprise me, unsettle me, or make me do a double take. Sitting with those feelings and turning them into art helps me process them and gives them a new form outside of me.

What would you do with $25,000?

I’d use part of the $25,000 to pay down my student loans so I’m not carrying that weight into the future. Having that relief would make it even easier to keep choosing art. The rest would go toward supplies and continuing to build a body of work I’m proud of.
