I love creating art because I want to share my inspirations with the world and represent the Diaspora in New Media.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is digital and physical works that feel like video game worlds. I like to challenge perspective and have viewers feel like they are part of a new journey. When I create an artwork or a collection, I hope that people view it and gain completely different responses. I like to challenge that idea of knowing and belonging, giving space for others to learn more about each other and the art itself.
Where do you find inspiration? My main inspiration comes from video game titles, such as "Final Fantasy" and "Legend of Zelda". What I love about these video games is that they focus on bringing cultures together for a greater purpose. I believe taking people outside their normal viewpoints allows us to really dive into the unknown. I feel video games are a work of art and truly capture that concept. Therefore, within my own practice, I like to break the rules and explore that further within a contemporary space.
What would you do with $25,000?What I would do with $25,000 is create a video game-like exhibition experience that captures stories from various timelines and cultures. I want to tell a story of many voices that existed, creating a parallel between our world and the fantasy dimension. I would also use the funds to donate a percentage of the earnings to a Caribbean non-profit and to my younger sibling for his college fund.
