The most rewarding part of making something is a moment of discovery. Sometimes, it comes before you start a piece, for example, if you begin with a vision and happen to see things very clearly. Other times, I arrive at a canvas not knowing at all where its going to go, and something magical will happen in that space where there was nothing and then out of nowhere, something new.

In nature and landscapes. In my dreams. In the process of creating art when you started with nothing in mind. In the energy of the people around me. In the space that lies in between souls. In what I see behind eyes. In the similarities I notice in all living things. In quietness and what is said without words. In sound and music. In dance. In books and poetry. In film and characters. In the work of my favorite artists, and in the work of my friends.

Put it back into my art! I currently support myself through jobs unrelated to art that take up the majority of my day. With the financial support, I would be able to work less hours, as well as find a studio space to rent. This would open up new possibilities for the work I am able to create! I would be able to produce larger works and incorporate more materials and experimentation.
