I create art to process memory, reclaim identity, and transform personal and collective histories into something felt, seen, and shared.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love creating participatory and multidisciplinary work that brings people together. My practice centres storytelling and moves between painting, curation, installation, digital work, and community engagement. I’m most interested in art that people can step into, contribute to, and see themselves reflected in whether through a conversation, a shared prompt, or a collective experience built in real time.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in people, memory, cultural traditions, and everyday moments of connection. A lot of my work is shaped by conversations, community gatherings, music, colour, storytelling, and the emotional landscapes people carry with them. I’m also deeply inspired by African histories, symbolism, and the ways care, joy, and resilience continue to exist even in difficult circumstances.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use the funding to expand Mapping Joy, a participatory platform exploring joy and social connection as determinants of health. I would also develop new paintings, community-engaged installations, and continue building inBloom Space in Lagos as a creative hub for workshops, exhibitions, and collective experiences centred around art, care, and connection.
