I create art to translate emotion into form—bridging past and present, telling stories words can’t hold, and making the invisible felt.

I create at the intersection of memory and wound. My work is not made from a single material or a single emotion. My work is built, accumulated, wrestled into existence through layers. I am drawn to the act of layering because that is how truth actually lives, not on the surface, but underneath it, pressing upward. My subject is Black life in all of its complexity, beauty, and burden. I am not interested in simple celebration, I am interested in the full, unresolved tension of what it means.
Where do you find inspiration?Life, struggle, and the human experience. Art, for me, is both a mirror and a bridge. It reflects internal struggles that immulate imposter syndrome, cultural dislocation, resilience. While my work also connects communities through shared emotional truths, my process intentionally allows materials to guide narrative as much as concept does. Ultimately, my work invites viewers to listen closely: to themselves, to their lineage, and to the messages still traveling across time.
What would you do with $25,000?Twenty-five thousand dollars, in the hands of most, is a number. In my hands, it becomes a doorway. My entire artistic life has been an act of building a mirror; insisting through paint and collage and raw mark-making that Black life is worthy of being seen, studied, and celebrated. I would use this money to tell children that their inner world matters. That their hands hold power. That their story is worth putting on a canvas and showing to the world.
