P.J. Austin

I love painting because I feel like it has the power to say what can't be described and it makes me happy.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

My favorite art to create is a mix between abstract, impressionism, and expressionism. It makes me feel like I'm capturing a mood or a moment and painting out the feeling that can't be seen but only felt if you were there.

Where do you find inspiration?

My biggest inspirations are the Beatles, Coltrane, Bill Evans, Kid Cudi, Kobe Bryant, Mac DeMarco, Earl Sweatshirt, Tame Impala, MF Doom, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Franz Kline, Cy Twombly, Roy Lichtenstein, Marcel Duchamp, Claude Monet, and Canaletto. I am also inspired by contemporary artists I've met since I started painting and by my friends and loved ones.

What would you do with $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would use some of it to advertise my paintings and use some of it to buy art for my apartment so I can get more and more inspired for my future paintings.
