I love to create art to express the intertwined and contradictory thoughts that populate my mind as I analyze the world around me.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is collage. The basis of collage is to reuse existing images to create new narratives and meanings. In these times of overconsumption, reusing is revolutionary. The contradictory nature of collage, with its infinite possibilities and inherent limitations, are thrilling to work with.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration all around, in nature, in cities, in art, in people and human interactions and in self-reflection/self-exploration. I am inspired to create collages that reflect the absurdity of the world and ourselves, the good and the bad, all of life itself. This moves me to make art that will hopefully connect with others in a deep and meaningful way.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were to win the $25,000, I would attend a residency program to improve my skills and connections. I would also create a public art project where large collages would be placed onto walls and billboards throughout the city with vindicating messages.
