Art that inspires continued creativity in myself and in others. Specifically abstract, color field, conceptual art. Oil painting is my medium of choice. Through oils I can develop layers of colors and patterns that have associated layers of emotions and meanings. These layers are sometime clearly defined and other times they develop as the painting is worked and reworked.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration everywhere from textures, emotions, climates, landscapes, human interactions, and dreams to name a few. My personal emotional state and dreams have always played major roles in my creative process. Both not only in the direct images but in the sense of place and sense of being. Being safe, happy, sad, angry, all of the various states of life that we all continual fall, trip or stumble into on the wheel of life. The translation of these ideas is central to my work.
What would you do with $25,000?I would further my artistic endeavors by purchasing a camera and associated equipment. There are places, people and scenes that I see moving throughout my days that I want to capture and translate into painting and other forms of art. I would also invest in more painting supplies. Oil painting is not cheap and having the materials on hand helps to seamlessly translate ideas through the creative process into finished pieces. I would also use some of the funds to secure a larger studio space.
