People are harder and more beautiful than they often get credit for and I don’t want to forget.

Stories are my favorite art form. They are applicable to various media though I most often write songs. When language and music are used to convey a story, multitudes can be revealed, accepting in form the possession of time and space, movement of air, the body and the mind. We talk and think about meaning and feeling, the unknown and the absurd, because it might be entertaining and it might be love. The ever existing questions are not answered but they do find trustworthy refuge in songs.
Where do you find inspiration?Observation as practice gives way to inspiration. I pull from literature, film, people watching and asking questions. I am inspired by chance and risk; when the unknown becomes the present, I try to decipher and play with it. I am inspired by the human spirit when it strikes me and I become momentarily possessed or detached from my wiles.
What would you do with $25,000?I would spend the money on my practice, buy some time, materials, etc. Perhaps I’d drive until the transmission gave out and get a week at the nearest motel and try to figure out a new way to say I love you. I’d write the best songs I’ve ever written. I’d write until the impossible showed up and rhymed. I’d finish another album of ten songs.
