I create art because it is a spiritual, physical, mental and personal expression of how I interpret the world I see.

I have recently discovered the joy and unexpected beauty of using my palette knives to create the most incredible shapes and textures on Canvas with Acrylic Paints. Sounds obvious, but I have been mostly a brush man for 50 years. When accompanied by the soft edges of my brushes, the contrast between the shapes and forms of the steel knife help me create stunning landscapes – both real and imagined. My figurative pieces have become somewhat abstract in the process.
Where do you find inspiration?Mostly in Nature. And mostly in New England at this stage of my life. And mostly in Maine to be honest. I consider myself a New England Artist and draw a great deal of my inspiration from the sky, sea, rocks and sand along the coast. I like to think you can smell the sea and feel the wind in some of works. I love sharing the little glints out of the corner of my eye that become a collection of clouds, surf and dunes. I hope my scapes inspire and entertain my viewers and collectors.
What would you do with $25,000?Oh my. I would pay off some debt, and then take my wife along for a road trip up to Ogunquit Maine for a night and enjoy our favorite restaurant. Then on to New Harbor and a few nights on Monhegan Island for a lot of photos, seafood and some plein air sessions. From there, I would come back home and enjoy a little relaxed time with kids and grandchildren. Finally, I would put a portion away for back up and make a trip to Dick Blick in Boston for an art supply shopping spree.
