I see a scene and feel compelled to paint it. I like to tell a story with my art. Beyond that, I can immerse myself in my subject and escape
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I work with acrylics. They allow me to paint quickly. I guess it is part of the compulsion. I get an idea and chew on it for a week or two, then start painting. I may spend six or ten hours ,on a work, but have been pondering the process for two weeks. specifically I think my art may be classified as " impressionist ".
Where do you find inspiration?mostly I would say a scene or setting catches my eye, and I say " hey I need to paint that". I did a three part series based on Steely dan's " Katy Lied". I just had a visual on the bar scene. Several are related to a DnD adventure I was involved in. My first though, was based on a story I made up with my daughter, based on an abandoned greenhouse in East Liverpool , Ohio. W e renamed it Billy Bonkas, and spun the tale from there.
What would you do with $25,000?I would like to say the money would help me retire but a more honest answer would be whatever my wife would tell me to. I think I could convince her to take a trip to Monterey, where we spent our first four years of marriage, and still have enough left over to get a good tattoo.
