Creating art allows me to understand myself and my connection within the world around me, while hopefully inspiring others to do the same.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Years ago, I found myself in a place of creative burnout. I realized I was making art for others instead of myself and had forgotten how to just let go and “play”. These days, I create for myself, taking the off the pressure of outside influences in order to explore what it is to be me in the moment. So, I just like to create using whatever media inspires me in the at the time, because creating is an internal journey that should not have limitation.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration and happiness through intentional exploration of the world around me, whether it be traveling to another country, experiencing an amazing gallery exhibit, hiking through nature, walking through a cemetery, enjoying a good meal or having a deep conversation with a kind soul. I suppose you could say inspiration comes by simply being present and open to outside stimuli which helps you understand yourself further as well as your connection with the outside world.
What would you do with $25,000?Honestly, these last several years have been quite rough and I’ve unfortunately accumulated a bit of debt. I know it’s not exciting, but I’d very much like to pay off some of this debt as well as take a much overdue trip with my partner.
