I both paint and perform, and both forms of art are expressing the distilled essence of myself. Ecstasy, despair, fury, and all, poured out.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Experiential art, whether its painting, performance, costume, or show production, I want anyone viewing it to feel something and to live fully in moment of engaging with that art. I love the loud, I love the bright, I love the clever, and I love the unexpected where my art is concerned. I have frequently sat in at local drag shows when I am not performing and done live sketches of the performers and presented them with the sketches afterward, which is just one example.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere. Whether it's a patch of embroidery on a coat, the way the light hits my cat's eyes, an expression on a driver's face during rush hour, or an inside joke, I draw from my entire experience. Artist wise, I love impressionist work and cubism, which shows. I also look up to entertainers like The Marx Brothers, Gerard Way, or even Alice Cooper, whose performances leave that lasting impression.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to set up an ongoing community project to support the local alternative arts scene, creating opportunities for drag, theater, painting, music, and more across genres of artistry, and using surplus from the project to assist with mutual aid and community support.
