My grandfather and mother were artists and I grew up around creative individuals who encouraged my artistic and musical abilities.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is painting in the Impressionistic style with a touch of Cubist Expressionism that breaks up the canvas based on the Golden Mean allowing me to intermingle flowers, waves, mountains, waterfalls, musical instruments, and other local subject matter into my Nature's Gifts Series. I also enjoy painting landscapes, florals, and cubist abstracts of local imagery. My moto is "Art is life, life is art, find your media and create your masterpiece."
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in nature, scenery, sunsets. The famous photographer, Dewitt Jones said "finding the extra ordinary in the ordinary". It's not just painting an image, it's the composition, perspective, color pallet, and technique that make it unique. As an art instructor, I emphasize personal voice. Art is a process, how one approaches the process creates technique. Developing technique leads to personal voice. I find inspiration from my students success as well.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were to win $25,000, I would invest in my craft and increase my social media presence. I would also love to be able to give back to our small community by continuing to offer art workshops and painting murals. I recently gifted our local Maunaloa Elementary school with a mural depicting their Mo'oleleo, the story of Maunaloa.
