BeadLacing is a new art form invented by Raé VanSunshine. It’s a technique perfected over decades of stitching beads in a hexagonal pattern from a central point. BeadLacing draws from multiple handcrafting skillsets taught to Raé by her Great-Grandmother. It’s a practice in intense present awareness, focus, and patience. The moment Raé’s mind wanders off-task a mistake is made, forcing her to start again from the beginning. It’s a deeply meditative act, reminding her of Gram’s love & peace.
Where do you find inspiration?Initially inspiration grew from Raé’s Great- Grandmother’s Zen presence, loving guidance, and petite seed beads. Later, Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto’s famous snowflake photographs of water embedded with meaning from special sources became Raé’s inspiration for the Snowflake Suncatchers. Each Snowflake Suncatcher contains 3,924 petite seed beads from Japan on a 9” brass ring with 42 unique snowflakes arranged to match the snowflake photographs captured by Emoto from water imbued as “Winter.”
What would you do with $25,000?With the winnings, Raé VanSunshine would be enabled to create a wholesale account for purchasing additional beads, allowing her to make more inventory to showcase to patrons. There would also be a budget set aside for product photography, launching a website, and marketing of her artwork to create a sustainable and cohesive luxury brand. Lastly, with the additional inventory, Raé would submit her artwork to galleries globally, finding her market product niche.
