I create art because it's in my blood. There's a need to create and express emotion that has always been there inside me.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Stylized portraits of women. I love painting women's portraits with watercolors or acrylics. There's just something so elegant and romantic about a feminine facial structure. It can be gentle, joyful, sad, angry or annoyed yet always beautiful. I especially love using watercolors and acrylic or my pieces because you can manipulate the medium so easily. I like to work fast so i appreciate that both dry down fast and next thing you know it's ready for another layer or detail!
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from my 2 Grandmothers, my Mom's mom, Sharron and my Dad's mom Jackie. Both of them are talented, creative and kind. They have always encouraged me to nourish my talents and have always supported my work. I'm also inspired by their beauty. Many of my portraits are inspired by the old photographs I've seen of them. Growing up I thought Julie Andrews looked like my Grandma Sharron and Audrey Hepburn looked like my Grandma Jackie. They have always been beautiful inside and out.
What would you do with $25,000?My husband and I are trying to buy a house right now. I would use it to help us buy our house, and make it a home. And if there's some left over I could also use some new art supplies too!
