I create art because it helps me process life and it’s a survival mechanism since I was a kid.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I love large scale painting. I can express myself better and I love the feeling when I am locked into the painting and can't escape. I live in the painting and become a character. Its this wonderful feeling to create and then you stand back and see the magic and its so beautiful. Its a full body experience and I am addicted to this feeling. I never get attached to my art because I want to keep making it. There's so much to paint and that's all I want to do and play my guitar too
Where do you find inspiration?I'm inspired by old films like the Fellini films, 8 1/2 is a good example and books, nature and my Latin American culture, travel and train rides and ferry rides in Ireland where the boat is almost tipping over and looking at the sky and drawing ideas in my head. The sky is an open canvas for me. I have some incredibly talented friends that inspire me. Its contagious. I don't have many friends but the ones I have I hold them dear to my heart. Music is also a huge inspiration and the ocean.
What would you do with $25,000?I would love to go on an artist retreat in Italy or France for a couple months where I can focus on making art surrounded by other artists. And I would put out my album, I have a band and we need money to put out our first album.
