I’d say my favorite type of art to create is religious realism. I love capturing biblical moments in a way that feels raw, emotional, and lifelike, because sometimes art is the closest people come to encountering those stories.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration in the Gospel and in moments that carry emotions too deep for words—feelings that can only truly be expressed through imagery. At times, that inspiration feels almost like a pull or urgency, where I feel compelled to create and can’t fully rest until the piece is brought to life. I’m also inspired by visual references from platforms like Pinterest and by other artists who capture biblical stories in ways I’ve never seen before, often sparking new ideas in my own work.
What would you do with $25,000?If I were awarded $25,000, I would use it to do what I know best: give back through my art. I believe the first step toward pursuing my dreams is serving others, and this would allow me to say yes to opportunities like traveling to paint for churches and community spaces that need it. It would also help me invest in my growth through formal study, especially in Coptic iconography, building on my self-taught foundation as an artist.
