Art allows me to combine my love of nature with my healing process for grief, ptsd, depression and anxiety. I can be myself and not worry.

My favorite type of art to create is metals. I use pewter, copper, and bronze to create sculptures, boxes, bowls, cups, ladles and jewelry through sketches. Creating beautiful waxes for casting is relaxing and satisfying to see the wax become bronze, silver or pewter during the lost wax casting process. Then the act of soldering, fusing, and plannishing the metal allows my work to come together. Lastly the metal is given a patina and polished.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration comes from nature and my life experiences. I have PTSD, depression, and anxiety that I express through my work and relaxing in nature. Often nature is the main theme of my art. I have used everything from wetlands frogs to lion from Africa in my past and current work. I also have created rattlesnake, and cobra inspired cups when I needed to express myself with an animal more dangerous. This was to express the loss of a family loved one through gun violence with snakes.
What would you do with $25,000?I would purchase the tools I need for my home shop. Often I battle with depression and not being able to afford the tools I need for my shop. I need a quality rolling mill, investment machine, kiln and many other tools for the shop. A metalsmith also needs the proper tools for melting the metals because metals like bronze need more to be melted slowly. There are so many different tools I’d purchase. I’d start a website to sell my finished work and custom creative services to start my business.
