Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I enjoy making all kinds of art, but crochet speaks to me on a different level. I love getting to experiment with the different stitches to create unique feelings and shapes for my characters. I originally started crochet to make fun little toys for my daughter, but it’s turned into a meaningful and fulfilling outlet for my creativity. I hope to be able to continue pursuing this passion as time goes on.

Where do you find inspiration?

I believe my inspiration comes from the life I’ve managed to make for myself. Growing up, my situation was less than perfect. Between an angry household, parents abusing substances, and a school system that seemed to work against the students, I had a lot of issues that I ended up having to keep to myself. I always used art to help me process what I’ve felt, and now it’s taken on a 3-Dimensional form that just happens to look kind of silly.

What would you do with $25,000?

This is probably the toughest question. I really want to get my family out of any debts we have. Not having to stress about student loans and medical bills would take a huge weight off of our shoulders. Depending on how much was left, (and if it was reasonable,) I’d love to make myself a little studio where I could just have my own space to create and not have to worry about the messiness of life for a while. Otherwise, I’d just like to have a healthy savings account.
