My favorite type of art to create brings joy to spaces, and immediately resonates on a personal level with the viewer. I make pieces that take hours to make but might seem initially simple at a glance.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration living by the coast, my travels, and my experience as a first- generation woman. I weave all three in every piece, from the subject matter to movements and colors used.
What would you do with $25,000?I would be able to invest in my art career and create even more South - Asian American art, something that was extremely lacking when I was growing up. I hope with this prize I can change that for the next generation, and be the representation that inspires them to follow their creative dreams.
