I was a painfully shy kid growing up in Queens, NYC. Art and theatre were the only ways I knew how to express the intensity inside.

I love working with pastels. I’m completely self taught. The images come to me and I dive in and quickly put them down. I love oil paint too. They are figurative and what ever haunts me. I know it’s ok if I feel myself on fire when I’m working.
Where do you find inspiration? The images come from inside of me but I see people’s faces on the street, I live on the Lower East Side of Manhattan and you see everything here. Shadows and light, stains on the subway walls, all kind of voices screaming or crying, the books I read, Van Gogh, Kerouac, Francis bacon, Dostoyevsky, Henry Miller, music, Bob Dylan, The Ramones, Coney Island and Rockaway Beach, Aquduct Racetrack, everything goes in I don’t make sketches, the paintings come out not planned. Whole.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d like to go to Paris. Pay off bills and the rent and medical bills. Buy art supplies. Survive. LIVE!
