I create art to give people something beautiful and thoughtful to ponder- and, hopefully help expand their minds and heart.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create must include symbolism, a bit of a puzzle. I like to challenge the viewer to look beyond the surface of an image to crack a code or reveal a pun. Humor is important to me and often a great way to add more interest to a work that is already visually appealing. Everything seems so serous anymore, I prefer to offer something light. For me, my best and favorite work is channeled through my heart.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration can strike from many places, I think the key is to be open to receive it from anywhere. Consistently, I find ancient culture inspiring, sacred geometry, the bible (especially the Old Testament) is a great source of universal truths. Science fiction has always moved me- Star Trek TNG, comic books, old posters and printing get me going. I’m currently obsessed with CMYK printing. Also junking, a good flea market can be a godsend. And camp, I love exaggerated realty.
What would you do with $25,000?Breathe easily. The past year has been fraught with challenges, I’m ready to glean what I’ve learned and move forward. This money would afford some much needed stability and the opportunity to grow my business by producing more paintings, prints and posters. I also owe my mom and Aunt Mary a few lunches.
