What is your favorite type of art to create?

I create sculptural, wearable art. My work focuses on biomorphic and modular forms that prioritize material integrity. I blend sterling silver with the warmth of walnut and the utility of leather. Rooted in my creative nonfiction background, I am most drawn to fabricating physical narratives that bridge heritage craft with contemporary design. Specifically in my most recent work, I've been exploring the physical, rigid architecture of a house and the abstract soft intimacy of a home.

Where do you find inspiration?

My inspiration stems from the intentionality of mid-century modern design, specifically the silhouettes of Isamu Noguchi, Russel Wright, and the art of hosting. Beyond the studio, my practice is informed by writing, gardening, film photography, and flower arranging. These parallel disciplines sharpen my sensitivity to the process, repetition, and care of creativity. Through this intentional engagement with various mediums, I see new meanings and alternative approaches to jewelry making.

What would you do with $25,000?

This award would bridge the gap between my time at SCAD and a professional studio practice. I would invest in specialized equipment like a casting machine or wood lathe to deepen the material research started in my recent collection. These funds would also support my move into the international sphere, covering residency and exhibition costs. Ultimately, this capital allows me to sustain a practice rooted in intentional, slow craft and meaningful observation.
