Artistry is observation. It brings you into the present moment, allowing you to interpret and transform an object with your mind and hands.

I like to create abstract sculptures from steel. I use a plasma cutter to create continuous shapes from a steel sheet that I can later mold and bend by hand. Once the final form is reached I then determine how it should be mounted. I use stone or another piece of steel to complement the structure. Although, I have created a larger sculpture that was comprised of several pieces of various sized components that could be linked and hung together in different ways depending upon the space.
Where do you find inspiration? My art is inspired by nature and the tracery that is found in a tangle of branches or vegetative growth and the objects found on my walks. An amalgamation of steel, stone and wood conveys a sense of liveliness and a tactile quality in the abstract possibilities of form influenced by nature.
What would you do with $25,000?Improve my studio space and invest in tools and materials to create more art. Experiment in 3D printing as an alternative medium and to be used in conjunction with steel and stone media. It would definitely enhance and expand my artistic practice.
