I have, for most of my life, found it very hard to relate to people. Art brings me nearer to people, and allows me to explain myself easily.

I am drawn to the figure, and to portraits. I also take heavy inspiration from the poster art of the Big Five San Francisco based artists who created many of the popular music posters for psychedelic bands in the 1960s and 70s. I like to use a wide range of colors, though my contrast and saturation differs between each piece. I like to create art that both engages and confuses the viewer, art that can be enjoyed on a surface, but contains depth for those who wish to look further.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from fairytales and mythology. I grew up in a household that valued storytelling, and often subconsciously work elements of my favorite stories into my work. My method is very loose, I draw what comes to mind and as the painting develops so does the meaning. I rarely enter a piece knowing what I want to communicate, which I feel creates a more honest form of expression, as I am not limited by my own parameters.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use it to support myself so that I can further pursue my craft. I am in my last year of undergraduate and am hoping to attend graduate school, possibly overseas. With this money I could buy materials to continue building my current body of work. I could also put a portion aside to use towards paying for school.
