I create conceptually based work in various mediums. The contradictions of limitlessness and restriction, freedom and unease.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Initially working in experimental theater, I deconstructed known elements of plays to create altered versions of anticipated events and unveil relationships between art, the individual, and the collective. I continue to work in the same manner while using various mediums to convey my ideas.
Where do you find inspiration?I never search it out. I feel in a way it finds me as I go through my life. I just put myself in places where it has a chance to happen, mostly events outside of the art world. I have to know when to pluck it out, a lot of the time it’s only in hindsight. I am not the type of artist that sits in a studio working it out. I never got any inspiration in a studio.
What would you do with $25,000?I have a large collection of index cards with unrealized ideas for projects and artworks just waiting for financial assistance. This award would provide the financial freedom to finally execute these projects.
