I always thought I was going to be a painter..as soon as I started working in glass, I knew I had found my true calling.Light through color.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
I work primarily in leaded stained glass, but I started as a painter. The thing about painting that always got to me was never knowing when you were finished. The fact that with glass there is a start and stop point to a project. That sense of completion means everything to me.All projects are experiments that I purposely make more complicated to push my skill sets, and the possibilities of the medium. Because of the many years of experience I have, I feel a duty to perpetuate the craft.
Where do you find inspiration?I find inspiration from nature, images that speak to me, basically all things of transcendental beauty..Stained glass to me helps unlock the colors of life as intended..Seeing the possibilities and potential when you pull an exotic colored sheet from the glass rack.. it drives you to want to create. These colors when used correctly with each other creates an effect totaling more than the sum of its parts.. it’s like candy for your eyes.
What would you do with $25,000?Other than restocking my colors, I would work on the book/ ebook I have over the years been compiling notes for. I feel that the knowledge I have gained over the last 32 years, should be passed along.. I feel a duty to revitalize the craft, and encourage others to try it as well.
