For me, creating art is a therapeutic outlet which grounds me and allows my soul to breathe. Especially in today’s climate.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My work can be described as mixed media, urban contemporary rooted in graffiti, street culture, and storytelling. My style is flexible and fluid blending spray paint and brush techniques exploring layered imagery, symbolism, and compositions that have the ability to transform spaces that build community. There’s an aesthetic beauty in everything around us and I try to capture that in my work.
Where do you find inspiration? My inspiration stems from urban landscapes, graffiti culture, social narratives and textures of everyday life. The patina of life I call it. I love the energy of the street, architecture, decay, and things that are overlooked. I find inspiration from the human connection of fellow artists as well. Those who I see grinding and hustling to make it as an artist. Being a full time artist is the hardest and most rewarding thing Ive ever done. I don’t like to call it work because I love doing it.
What would you do with $25,000?There’s so many things I can apply the money towards, but I don’t want to make it about the money. Money a construct. If I can pay it forward somehow and continue to help other artists grow that’s what I’d do. Maybe pay some bills off. But honestly, the funds would just help me do what I already do in my studio/gallery.
