The act of creating starts with a lump of wet earth and my simple touch honed over years to transform into a vessel that is used daily.

Pottery is my favorite art because it is immediate, intimate, and transformative. I shape clay into both everyday vessels that gather families around tables and symbolic forms that capture beauty, memory, and meaning. From soldier to potter, clay grounds me heals me, and lets me create with my hands. What my heart needs to express.
Where do you find inspiration?Inspiration finds me in many places. It lives in the memories of service, camaraderie around a field table, the weight of a rucksack, and the resilience forged in deployment. It rises from the healing power of transformation, turning hardship into strength. I also draw from everyday beauty. Clay teaches me that inspiration isn't forced. It is present in the touch, the breath and the willingness to shape what once felt broken into something whole and meaningful.
What would you do with $25,000?I would create a veterans pottery orkshop series, offering free classes to other service members struggling with transition. Just as one class once saved me. This award wouldn't just support my art, it would open the door and welcome other struggling soldiers a seat at the table to set down their burden and feel the healing power to simply create. I would offer the healing power of clay to those who need it most in a world who has forgotten our sacrifice or that we exist.
