Of particular interest is geometric abstraction and how its integration into the natural environment informs something that I consider to be beautiful. Likewise, my approach to painting is grounded in formalism and establishing what is possible with what is available using limitations and constraint as an inspiration for self exploration and creation. I prefer to use linear elements as a framework for departure while tempting the abstraction of chaotic forms.
Where do you find inspiration?Picasso said "inspiration exists but it has to find you working"... I think this is a succinct and accurate summary of my process towards creation. Through daily engagement in the studio as well as reading, interacting with others and personal reflection I find new ideas to explore.
What would you do with $25,000?It's important to save some while also addressing studio and educational needs. I'd also like to use some of the funds for advancing outreach in art therapy in my area of Eastern Long Island.
