Art allows me to build a world of my own imagination that exists outside of physical restraint. speak to people & tell stories without words
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Surrealistic, combining elements of realism with cartoon and abstract ideas. Things that feel dreamlike/mysterous. Mixing mediums from paint & magazine clippings, to random pieces of art nouveau decor that has been beautifully weathered by the elements. Pencil and paper with a nice tooth, full control to the most minuscule detail. Paint for free flowing ideas and layering of textures. I like ruins, they convey so many emotions in one motif; youth, decay, romance, nostalgia, grief, love, hate.
Where do you find inspiration?Everywhere in life. from moss growing between bricks, from the remnants of a sticker that has been haphazardly scraped off a pole, from the late night stories told by a stranger at a dive bar, from the way certain insects and plants congregate around a rotten stump. Patterns of rugs and circuit boards that mimic patterns of nature. As well as various forms of media. Artistic Music videos, old films, 80’s animation, CD/DVD cover arts and booklets. Traveling, hiking, riding the subway/metro/train.
What would you do with $25,000?Travel to Machu Picchu, to spiritually connect with my family’s heritage.Travel across Europe to see the cathedrals & urbex abandoned castles. Participate in underground music and art shows along my travels. Purchase art equipment I wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford; screenprinting station, kiln, silver/silver smithing equipment. & keep that equipment in a studio that I can share with fellow artists so they have a place where we can share ideas & chainsmoke in peace without a landlord bugging
