I create art to bring into existence my ideas, memories, and emotions to heal myself, create joy and fulfill my sense of purpose.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
My favorite type of art to create is large-scale sculptural heads in cement, typically around 40" tall, along with smaller ceramic works. My work focuses on expressive human and creature forms with strong presence and texture. I enjoy working at a scale where the piece feels physically grounded and immersive, allowing the surface, weight, and detail to fully shape the viewer's experience.
Where do you find inspiration?I am inspired by Mesoamerican history and art, especially ancient Olmec sculpture, along with human expression and pop culture imagery. I am interested in how symbols carry meaning and evolve over time. In my "Trash-Heads" series, I encase microplastics, non-recyclable plastics, such as food packaging, Styrofoam, paint chips and worn tools within hallow cement forms-creating hidden time capsules that reflect memory, permanence, and environmental impact.
What would you do with $25,000?I would use $25,000 towards expanding my ability to create larger, more ambitious sculptural work- investing in materials, molds, and dedicated workspace. It would also allow me to develop more complex mixed-material pieces and document my process, helping me to share both the physical and conceptual layers of my work with a wider audience.
