I love the challenge of painting water, as it requires capturing two surfaces simultaneously: the reflective top and the hidden depths below

Oil painting of water is my favorite form of art because it lets me capture movement, light, and emotion all at once. I enjoy the challenge of blending colors to reflect the depth and fluidity of water, from calm reflections to crashing waves. It’s a process that feels both technical and expressive, allowing me to bring something constantly changing to life on a still canvas.
Where do you find inspiration?I’m inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds me in Florida, especially the water that’s always nearby. Living here, we see many bodies of water every day: the ocean, rivers, lakes, natural springs, and creeks. Being close to water has always given me a sense of peace and calm, and that feeling naturally flows into my art. I try to capture that quiet, soothing energy in my paintings so others can experience it as well.
What would you do with $25,000?If I won $25,000, I would donate a portion to a program that helps children discover and explore their own creativity through art. I’d also invest in creating more of my own work by expanding my materials and opportunities, and I would put funds toward promoting and growing my art business so I can share my work with a wider audience.
