I could no sooner choose a favorite star! Favorite materials would be metal, but glass, stone, wood, leather are all very hard to leave behind. If I was forced to choose, I prefer to make thing people will use and enjoy everyday. I love to have as much detail in a piece as I can get. Every inch has to have something to say. The goal is to build things that will last for generations.
Where do you find inspiration?EVERYWHERE! books, movies, nature, its all around us. I have to rein it in otherwise projects get out of hand. If I were to list a few key influences. Max Randolph, my mentor would be at the top of the list. Lord of the rings and the hobbit. The craftsmanship and ruggedness of the dwarves. Thick iron, square angles, intricate patterns,just makes me want hammer! The Elves! Graceful, smooth, and elegant lines weaving timeless shapes and patterns. I try to combine these to into what I call Delvish
What would you do with $25,000?Never really thought about the prise money. Im humbled that I even made it this far, truly honored. It would most undoubtedly go back into my work. More training, education perhaps some tools that I desperately need but can't afford lol. Hydraulic press, split roller, and a swage block to name a few. I've never considered myself to be an artist, but there are a few that would disagree with me. I would love to do this full time and it is the plan when I retire soon the tools would definitely help
