Creating is the basis for existence. Without it I'd be a wandering fool. It keeps me going in a chaotic world; compiling my ideas.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Improvisational art. Materials can be anything from watercolors to fused glass or metal work where the medium dictates direction. Many creations are based on a puzzle formula where objects interact, meld and form a cohesion, 2-D & 3-D included.
Where do you find inspiration?Comes from many sources: reading, visuals, music, subconscious. Improvisational works are more satisfying than planned ones. They can be whimsical, astute, contain politico-social commentary, be imaginative, tongue-in-cheek, combine words/image, use rhythm, repetition, contrast, dynamics and philosophy. Perspective changes, ideas come from a phrase, photo, memory, while an impression forms and dictates how to execute. Could be abstract, geometric, with poetry, florals, playful or controversial.
What would you do with $25,000?Presently I have no facility to do metal smithing. The building I was using was condemned due to flooding and a no new site planned. Therefore, an equipped facility would allow continuing on this path. Whether for classes, workshops, use of equipment, time spent working there, or travel time to the location, this would be an ideal solution to use the funds. Art fairs/components to set up for them are expensive and fees unaffordable for someone on a limited income and could use to fund.
