I was once capable of creating realistic art, but my blindness led me to find solace in abstract art. Mixed media has become an ideal medium for conveying my life experiences through abstract vision, both literally and figuratively. Alcohol ink gives me the freedom to navigate creativity through its surreal flows of its own design.
Where do you find inspiration?My inspiration is found within my life experiences and the beauty of life around me. I’m inspired by touch, texture, and the emotions I feel. Curiosity, memory, and the need to connect drive me to create and express what words cannot.
What would you do with $25,000?I’d invest in my practice: upgrade materials (Yupo, inks, tools), and build accessible studio systems that support how I create. I’d use the residency to experiment boldly—larger work, new techniques, maybe tactile or Braille-based pieces that deepen connection. I’d document the process and build a portfolio that opens gallery opportunities. I’d also set aside some funds for marketing—professional photos, a simple website, and continue with my art program designed for low vision people,
