Recently, art from life. Real, physical things that I can sit with, examine, and try to find hidden charm in. Sometimes a photo can suffice but I’ve found that there’s no better way to discover something intriguing about a subject than by being present with it. My new found love of oil pastels has been a great medium to render these scenes in a chunky, textured, impasto style and I’m excited to continue experimenting and refining this area of my artistry. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Nature. And the mundane. And what can be more mundane than nature? Like, come on. Trees? Have you ever watched a tree grow? No. That would be worse than watching paint dry because at least paint will stop drying eventually. When does a tree stop growing? I don’t know and I don’t want to be around to find out. But it’s in these mundane moments that a tree could provide a beautiful composition or a tomato could shine vibrantly next to a jar of peppers in natural light.

First and foremost, $25,000 would offer a great sense of financial security for me and my family. There would be an adventure to Disneyland with my wife and children. There would be bills payed and a savings account restored. There would be creativity taken to new heights with upgraded materials and supplies and the possibility of a dedicated space to create in my home other than our dining room table.
