Making art to express my thoughts & feelings. Born with cleft lip/palate, art got me through those insecurities & unveiled my individuality.
You decide who will appear in Artforum Magazine, take home $25,000, and display their work at The Art of Elysium's Salon!
Mixed media art with some figurative form within the piece. Typically it will have a narrative aspect to it as well. It’s hard to pin point one specific type of art since it really depends on the current idea I have. One of my favorite series is my wrinkled charcoal drawings that take a very traditional style of art and add texture to it by wrinkling the paper only within the image that is being drawn. The wrinkles give it a sculptural feel to it, an almost chiseled looked.
Where do you find inspiration?I find it in the most random places. On hikes with my kids, laying down about to fall asleep, and even listening to songs. Some times I will grab my notebook, turn my lights low, turn off any other noise around me and close my eyes to see what will pop into my head. It’s basically meditating and thinking of ideas. Letting my mind wander and when I see something I write it down. Other times I will skim through my notebook and mix past ideas together.
What would you do with $25,000?Transform my studio into a much more fluid workspace so my ideas can go from start to finish much more seamlessly.
