I love using graphite and drawing human anatomy. I remember one of the first things I attempted to get really good at when I was in middle school was drawing hands, I was always told they were one of the hardest things to draw and I loved the challenge. Afterwards, I just wanted to keep drawing other body parts. The human form is so beautiful. I got somewhat bored of basic anatomy and started moving on to crime scene photos, it felt more abstract and unique - and a little insane - which I loved.

I’ve always thought death was an interesting topic. Having experienced quite a bit of death throughout my life, I never wanted to shy away from it. Death is the most natural part of all life, and to understand life, you have to understand death. In a way I find inspiration through the reverence of the life/death cycle and exploring what makes it so taboo. Getting comfortable with witnessing the often unseen and sitting with it long enough to draw it out has deepened my relationship with my art.

I would first give some to my family, who have consistently been a beacon of undying support for my ‘starving artist’ dreams. If it wasn’t for them cheering me on I wouldn’t be where I’m at today. I also have always dreamed of having my own artist space with screen printing & other equipment to host classes and meet ups for other artists in my community, more specifically those who lean more towards dark art. This would be such a helpful start to make that dream a reality.
