As a multidisciplinary artist, my current favourite art form is acrylic on canvas. As an Ojibway/Woodland Cree Artist from Turtle Island, my work is influenced by storytelling. Every painting I make tells a story. I want to create art that makes people feel love, light and peace of mind. I want to create art that makes people feel good, igniting a spark in conversation as to what they’re seeing. To have a picture in your mind emerge on canvas is one of the highest forms of connection.

I find inspiration through the elements of the natural world that include the animals, minerals, plants, human experiences, and the spiritual & dream world. My inspiration comes from Anishinaabe culture and knowledge that I was taught growing up. Having my world shaped by art through the disciplines practiced in my family was a gift that informed my way of life. My goal is to create inspiration through art as a form of artistic expression and advocacy that represents our culture in love & light.

To be given this generous gift would open a lot of doors for me as an Indigenous artist. I’ve always wanted to have my own studio and be able to have an exhibition of my work in Honour of my sister Cileana Taylor and grandfather Curtis Shingoose, whom were impacted by MMIW and was a Residential School Survivor. They have influenced my artwork so much that I would love to honour them through my art/exhibition. They are the reasons that I continue to create, as it brings healing and peace of mind.
