I practice mostly illustration and film making. I started off painting and then moved on to digital illustration. In 2019 i decided that I wanted to capture an idea in film format which was about the beauty of Middle Eastern noses and i felt as though film would be the best way to capture the beauty of peoples faces and unique features. After creating that experimental film/ documentary I found myself being drawn to illustration and film making more than photography and painting.
Where do you find inspiration?Mostly my heritage and being queer. I find so much beauty in researching Iranian history and the queerness that existed before erasure took place over the last 50 years in Iran. My art comes from everyday experiences and I’m so grateful I have the freedom to do that as I know so many people in my home country don’t.
What would you do with $25,000?I would put it towards a feature film that I’m developing about a Middle Eastern girl navigating life in American as she chances her dreams. The money would go towards bringing a team together to help create this film.
