Sam Rhodes

Because it keeps me tethered to a time not that long ago when we were who we were, not what we had. It’s an urge to connect to that.

What is your favorite type of art to create?

I like to work with natural materials - wood, paper, metal, both crude and finished -to create a rather rustic geometric abstract style, some stand-alone pieces such as colorful boxes, chessboards, or, three dimensional shapes, or pieces of the same sort that hang from walls. I like to combine rustic material that comes together in geometric abstract shapes that engage and symbolically draw the viewer symbolically to a different time and space

Where do you find inspiration?

The inspiration comes from wanting others to be able to see simple and complex thoughts as I think them. That inspiration is in all of the mediums I work with such as writing, composing music, and photography.

What would you do with $25,000?

I would divide it equally among my four children as sort of a going away present, as at the ripe old age of 76 I realize that I am in the last quarter of the game.
