Connect What is your favorite type of art to create?

I love creating Art with Soul. I believe art comes from the place of the soul. It’s the language all our hearts speak but don’t always have words for. I create paintings that tell a story. I believe that by sharing our own stories, that creates space for others to share their own. We can heal as a community by telling our stories. I paint with bright vibrant colors to bring joy to any room. Color represents the emotion and energy I put into a painting.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find my inspiration by processing my external world through my internal landscape. I let my brush move intuitively. I let the canvas tell the story. Nature-Mother Earth inspires me. Dancing and movement shakes my creativity loose. I find inspiration by going to community events and supporting other artists. I spend a lot of time in the NE Minneapolis Artist district seeing local shows or doing events of my own. Community inspires me. Life lessons and wisdom from the Elders.

What would you do with $25,000?

I currently host many events for my community at my studio/gallery in NE Minneapolis. I would use some of the funds to pay the rent for this space. Currently I host healing song and sharing circles, elevated sober dance parties, a women’s empowerment life drawing circle, and an open art studio. The funds would also go towards being able to provide food for my community events and fund the events. I elevate local musicians, models, artists, and creators in my events. I would also get a stipend.
